Marching Merley for MND

March 2022

Merley, Dorset

Those that know me, will know that physical exercise these days is not me. I am a sitter and tea drinker, not a walker. I ache the next day after just gardening for a few hours! So, you will probably be surprised that I will be walking 30+ miles around Merley in aid of my friend of 30+ years Paul who at 45 was diagnosed with Motor Neurones Disease (MND). MND is life shortening and there is no cure.

In March 2022, I plan to walk every road in Merley, Wimborne – starting from Hawker Close where Paul grew up… It is approximately 30ish miles to cover the whole area.

Paul now lives in Ireland but frequently visits home, family and friends.

Paul and Ian

I hope to increase awareness as best as I can and to raise as much money as possible to support Paul and his family and the IMNDA for research and to help others going through the same. I believe that this will help me attempt in some small way try to understand what Paul and many others face every day.

I truly admire Paul’s bravery and determination.

So, if there is anything you can do to help, if you want to join me on my walk or simply donate, I would very much appreciate your support.

The IMNDA is the leading charity in Ireland providing care and support to people affected by MND, as well as funding vital research into finding a cure.
